Functional Medicine

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease. It can help reduce symptoms from Diabetes Type II, Hypothyroidism, Adrenal Fatigue and Postmenopause, as well as other health conditions. A holistic approach is taken in functional medicine, including a review of the patient’s symptoms, daily activities, mental condition, life cycle and eating habits. A sophisticated blood analysis is also completed. A typical treatment plan will include supplementation, diet/lifestyle changes, physical activity and stress management.

How does functional medicine work?

Diagnoses are made through a series of convenient testing. Before starting a treatment plan, patients complete paperwork (also available online), have vitals taken and a consultation is set up to discuss the patient’s history. If eligible for the program, an appointment is scheduled at a local lab for a blood chemistry panel. Once the blood is taken, results are analyzed and a health blueprint is provided identifying each step in the program. A support system is one of the most important aspects of functional medicine. Couples, friends and teams are welcomed to participate together!
